Intentions:
Terrence Malick’s original idea for “Tree of Life” was a project called “Qasida,” or “Q” for short. It was to be a story about the origins of life and featured a “sleeping god, underwater, dreaming of the origins of the universe, starting with the big bang and moving forward, as fluorescent fish swam into the deity’s nostrils.” I wasn’t trying to recreate this idea, as that would be too difficult. So I figured I’d just use the trippy parts of “Tree of Life” and sync it up to some Tool. Tool’s album “10000 Days” has a hidden track, go Google it if you don’t know anything. It’s a pretty awesome track and it seemed to fit well with the visuals.
