Synopsis:

The Alexandre Dumas novel The Count of Monte Cristo inspires this modern-day drama about a lovely young woman who moves to the Hamptons and charms the pants off her new neighbors -- while plotting their downfall for sins committed against her family.

Intentions:

This slims down the series to make it more about revenge - removing some of the petty squabbles that dominate the middle of the series. It also removes any resurrection of characters - people who die stay dead, and it also rewrites the ending to fit with the original plot. Additionally, a bunch of unnecessary side characters are removed (Patrick, Emily and Jack's mothers, The Initiative people), making the overall plot much more grounded and believable.
