Synopsis:
I added several deleted scenes and promos to provide more time spent with the humans (and androids) and removed several scenes and appearances of the aliens either because I didn't find the CGI convincing or felt excessive screen time diminished their impact.
Intentions:
I really enjoyed the theatrical versions of the 2 Alien prequel films, especially the ways they differ from the original series. When I saw all the extra material released for Covenant, I felt much of it could enhance the film and felt it would be a good starting project.
Change List:
-use extended David prologue -add Phobos short -add Walter in hydroponics deleted scene -add Oram comforts Daniels deleted scene -add Walter comforts Daniels deleted scene -add extended funeral scene -add Ledward's fall deleted scene -trim Ledward bloodburster -trim Hallet bloodburster -use extended plaza scene -add Daniel's thanks Walter deleted scene -add The Crossing journey flashback -add Rosie's prayer deleted scene and remove some neomorph shots -add Walter reports back deleted scene -trim Oram chestburst -move The Crossing genocide flashback -trim cargo transport pickup to remove xenomorph fight -add Walter promo to credits.
Additional Notes:
The aspects of Covenant that leaned more into being like the original Alien films and less like Prometheus were my least favorite. After viewing some extended fanedits, I felt the added scenes really helped pull it back towards Prometheus, so I started to put together my own preferred cut. After adding in most of the deleted scenes and promos and removing or trimming many alien scenes, I took a look at how these changes changed the film as a whole. Making use of great feedback and advice, I dialed back and tuned several of these changes to find the right balance and increase my personal enjoyment of the film while meeting the expected standard of an approved fanedit.
