Synopsis:
Phil Connors, a weatherman from Pittsburg, is trapped in an endless timeloop, reliving February 2nd endlessly, stuck in small-town Punxsutawney, with seemingly no escape. The Long Winter Edition reintegrates 5 deleted scenes, and 5 more minutes of footage, into the Bill Murray holiday classic
Intentions:
After seeing a few short deleted scenes on the Blu-Ray, I thought it would be benefical to see more of Phil's depressed period, while adding back 2 more good tasks on his final day in Punxsutawney.
Change List:
- added Phil sinking hits in the pool hall while discussing basketball with some other patrons - added Phil cutting up some ice sculptures - added Phil hitting strikes as a crowd cheers him on in the bowling alle - added Phil doing medical research in the library - added Phil saving a girl about to get hit by a truck in the street - added Phil saying a final goodbye to the homeless old man, as an ambulence arrives.
Additional Notes:
Every scene was upscaled to HD, colour corrected to match the Blu-Ray and added 35mm grain. Every scene also had its sound design rebuilt, and rescored, with tracks from the film, or a song from the Ghostbusters soundtrack, used as diagetic music in the pool hall and bowling alley.
Other Sources:
- Groundhog Day - Original Score by George Fenton - Phil Steals The Money and Sometimes People Just Die are reused and re-edited - Ghostbusters (1984) Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Magic and I Can Wait Forever are borrowed and used as background tracks.
