Synopsis:

Soldier's in training find themselves trapped in the desert, where grisly mutants live and must fight to survive.

Intentions:

To make this brain-dead sequel a little better, but not by much. At least I fixed my issues with the opening and ending of the film.

Change List:

Removed opening credits birth and death scene. Created new credits which were placed after the official prologue of the film with the tech team setting up the stuff at the base before being killed off. Removed the text stating how the army denied what happened to the troops and Sector 16 is still said not to exist....I had to cut this section completely as the characters walked away,so there is a transition in this moment to them leaving out the door into the daylight. I also cut the cheap jump scare/stinger ending much like the original film that makes the ordeal the characters fought through pointless in the end. I used footage from the alternate ending of the characters in up close walking outside towards the camera, looking around, and I then paused the image and faded to white, then the credits begin. I used different score over this ending sequence as well to offer some poignancy/emotion as we don't know what happens to the characters after it ends(it's up to the viewer). I removed the heavy metal song from the end credits, and placed Monday Monday by the Mama's and the Papa's, which adds a haunting layer to the film when you listen to the lyrics. I used the original mono single version of the song as well. After the song, I inserted some tomandandy score for the remainder of the credits. From 20 minutes in until 40 minutes in. I inserted at random points numerous bits from the blooper reel of the actors in character doing a mock interview to the camera and joking around. This adds a bit of levity to the film and makes it surreal as we're taking out of the film/scene for a moment and given a glimpse into their lives before the shit hit the fan. I inserted one last bit from the blooper reel at the very ending before the credits begin, with the characters saying how they're the national guard, here to protect you, then "peace out", brief laughter....cue end credits. The rape scene was trimmed a little bit(10-20 seconds). When it cuts back to the rape in action, first showing outside the door as we hear the rape, then it cuts to upclose shots of the rape in action, I cut everything after the door shot, so we only hear the rape. It's a very over the top(in sound effects) sequence and quite gratuitous this late in the film and feels out of place, despite of course the male mutants wanting to create offspring as the excuse to have such a scene in the film. The beginning of the rape scene was left intact, with only the very end of the first part of the assault removed, which includes the dad mutant saying "Babbbbby" and drooling on the woman after smacking her around. Gross. tomandandy score was used throughout the film, like the opening credits, when they first arrive to the base, one of the fight/attack scenes, and little bits here and there, while the regular score of the film is still largely intact throughout.

Additional Notes:

Unrated version was the source print. So all the violence is uncut, with only the rape scene being trimmed a bit as I detailed above.
