Synopsis:

In the final, desperate days before the Galactic Civil War erupts into full scale, a small band of unlikely heroes comes together for one crucial mission: to steal the plans for the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star. Led by the defiant and courageous Jyn Erso, the ragtag group of rebels must infiltrate an Imperial stronghold and transmit the secret blueprints to the Rebellion. Their sacrifice will ignite a spark of hope that sets the stage for the legendary battle to come. As darkness looms across the galaxy, this is the story of how a handful of brave souls changed the fate of the stars.

Intentions:

My edit that merges Rogue One with A New Hope stems from a deep desire to enhance the narrative experience of the Star Wars universe by aligning the story in a more chronological, emotional, and aesthetic way. This is not simply a fusion of two films, but rather a carefully crafted proposal designed to be watched immediately after the conclusion of Andor Season 2. In that sense, it has three clear and fundamental intentions: 1. Seamless narrative integration with Andor: One of the main goals of this edit is to serve as a perfect bridge between the ending of Andor and the beginning of the original trilogy. Andor has played a key role in deepening the political and personal foundations of the early Rebellion, building dramatic tension that culminates in the events of Rogue One. However, for many viewers, the jump from Andor to Rogue One can feel abrupt due to changes in tone and structure. By rearranging certain scenes and focusing on a more coherent transition, my edit allows the story to flow more organically, continuing the arcs developed in Andor—especially in terms of Cassian's character and the growing sense of collective sacrifice within the Rebellion. 2. Chronological reordering for stronger temporal coherence: A central decision in this project was to restructure the order of certain scenes from both Rogue One and A New Hope to improve the chronology of events. This not only addresses some perceived temporal inconsistencies between the two films but also enables a more logical and natural narrative progression. In the original cut, Rogue One ends just moments before A New Hope begins, but my edit reinforces and expands that connection, weaving the events together with greater clarity and synergy, removing abrupt transitions, and ensuring that viewers feel they are witnessing a single, continuous story. 3. A perfect union of Rogue One and A New Hope into one epic film: The final and most ambitious goal of this edit is to make both films function as a single extended cinematic experience, with no tonal or narrative breaks. The edit focuses on seamlessly merging the climax of Rogue One with the opening of A New Hope, as if they were meant to be one long film rather than two separate entries. In doing so, the characters, settings, and the galactic conflict itself gain a new level of cohesion and depth, allowing the viewer to perceive the Rebellion’s struggle not as isolated events, but as a connected chain of heroic actions driven by a shared spirit of resistance. Ultimately, this edit does not seek to rewrite the story we already know, but to elevate it. It is a tribute to the stories told in Andor, Rogue One, and A New Hope, and an attempt to bring them to a new level of integration for those who seek a more complete and chronologically faithful experience within the Star Wars universe.

Change List:

- New opening scenes, Jyn's past in the Empire is seen first - No "Rogue One" title sequence - Added Andor S1 post credits scene - New "Death Star Cut" title sequence - Reused edited Kenobi scenes for Star Destroyer Bridge - Reused TESB lines to explain how Vader tracked the Tantive IV - Used edit to bridge R1 with ANH - Added credits

Additional Notes:

There are some visual errors I aim to fix in the future, and potentially add the last episode of Andor Season 2, unless it makes the runtime too long. Additionally, using better deepfakes for Leia and Tarkin, and fastening the fight between Vader and Ben.
