Synopsis:

Thirty years after defeating the Empire, a new threat looms over the Republic. The terrible and enigmatic warrior Kylo Ren has assembled an army of Empire loyalists, calling themselves the First Order and attacking the Alliance. The only hope for the galaxy is for a junk collector, an escaped stormtrooper and an android named BB-8 to find the legendary jedi Luke Skywalker in time.

Intentions:

Star Wars: Episode VII - A New Legacy is a combination of both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, merged into one 3-hour movie, cutting a lot of, personally, unnecessary scenes, making it possible to reach this runtime. My intention is to carefully rework both films by identifying and removing the elements that are either personally unappealing or widely regarded as problematic by the broader fan community. This includes trimming scenes or subplots that feel unnecessary, poorly executed, or inconsistent with the overall narrative and character development. I also aim to eliminate any plot holes or contradictions that disrupt the internal logic or continuity between the two stories. One of my key creative goals is to preserve the sense of mystery and intrigue that was originally associated with certain characters—particularly Kylo Ren’s true identity as Han Solo’s son and Finn’s background as a former stormtrooper. I believe these elements, when revealed gradually and with emotional weight, add depth and resonance to the story. By keeping these revelations impactful and not front-loaded, the narrative retains a stronger sense of suspense and character evolution. In terms of structural changes, I’ve chosen to remove the entire Canto Bight sequence, as I feel it significantly detracts from the pacing and thematic cohesion of the narrative. As a result, all scenes involving Rose and DJ have been cut from the edit. While these characters had potential, their arcs and contributions in that storyline felt disconnected from the central plot and often distracted from the main character journeys. Removing them helps streamline the film and maintain a tighter focus on the core characters and their development. Finally, I want to ensure that the final cut has a watchable, well-paced runtime—striking a balance between storytelling depth and viewer engagement. The end result should feel streamlined but not rushed, engaging but not bloated, and above all, worthy of both the characters and the universe they inhabit.
