Synopsis:

Four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, Biosyn operatives attempt to track down Maisie Lockwood, while Dr Ellie Sattler investigates a genetically engineered swarm of giant insects.

Intentions:

This cut trims the Chris Pratt storyline as much as possible without losing the main story beats and refocuses on the original Dern/Neil/Goldblum trio. It's still very much not the Jurassic Park movie everyone wants and it's still weirdly focused on locusts. But I think this version works a lot better as a fun little nostalgia-driven re-visit to the original cast since it's not as tied down with the heavy Pratt/Howard lore from the previous two films. If you just want a fun little adventure with Neil/Dern/Goldblum this is a lot closer to that than the theatrical version!

Change List:

The Dern/Neil/Goldblum stories are pretty much presented in full with only a few small cuts made (a few lines of awkward dialogue mainly). The Pratt/Howard plot is trimmed heavily until the two main plots meet and then it's pretty much just the theatrical version with a few minor edits (main ones are cutting a scene where the locusts swarm which is basically a repeat of the same thing that happened in the same room like 2 scenes earlier and using the soundtrack to replace the newscaster voiceover at the end that felt kind of awkward.) This cuts about 40 minutes of melodrama and action scenes that overstay their welcome but hopefully keeps just enough of the Pratt plot to avoid any narrative confusion.
