Synopsis:
When a group of elite mercenaries infiltrates a wealthy family's estate on Christmas Eve, taking everyone hostage, they expect an easy payday. But their plan is upended when they encounter an unexpected foe—Santa Claus himself.
This isn’t the jolly old man from stories past; this Santa (played by David Harbour) is grizzled, battle-hardened, and ready to dish out some yuletide justice. Fueled by a sense of duty to protect the innocent and a growing distaste for the naughty, Santa embarks on a one-man mission to take down the heavily armed criminals.
As the night unfolds, the line between naughty and nice is drawn in blood, with Santa proving that Christmas spirit is about more than just presents—it's about standing up for what's right, no matter the odds. Filled with dark humour, explosive action, and a touch of holiday magic, Violent Night delivers a holiday movie like no other.
Intentions:
The goal of this extended version of Violent Night was to deepen the narrative, enhance character development, and expand on the film’s themes while retaining its unique blend of action, dark humor, and holiday magic. By enriching the story with additional scenes and moments, this version creates a more immersive and emotionally resonant experience.
Change List:
• Open with MR Spark intro video
• Add MR Fanedit disclaimer
• Add “Violent Night: HO HO HO! Edit” title card
• Add “Movies Remastered” to opening credits
• Add “HO HO HO! Edit” to title card
• Insert deleted scene of Jason opening car door for Trudy. (This helps flesh out the deception of Jasons family from the start).
• Enhance 5.1 surround channels (Help from Hear_Everything)
• Blend extended scene score with original score from movie.
• Colour correct deleted scene to match original movie
• Insert deleted scene of Trudy trying to talk to Santa and the bad guy removing the batteries from her Walkie Talkie. (This shows that Trudy’s Toy is magic and doesn’t need batteries to work).
• Enhance 5.1 surround channels (Help from Hear_Everything)
• Add “Santa, Are you there?” track from original soundtrack
• Blend extended scene score with original score from movie.
• Colour correct deleted scene to match original movie
• Remove score “Mamacita Dónde Esta Santa Claus”. (While this is a Christmas song, I don’t feel that it added anything to the fight scene and left it a little flat. (Removed by Hear_Everything)
• Enhance 5.1 surround channels (Help from Hear_Everything)
• Colour correct deleted scene to match original movie
• Enhance 5.1 surround channels (Help from Hear_Everything)
• Add “The Pogues – Fairytale of Newyork featuring Kirsty MacColl” track. (I feel this song not only watches what’s going on in the scene with its lyrics but also lifts the scene to a more comedic level.
• Remove score when Santa is pulling a Rambo
• Add “Carol of the Bells by Samuel Kim” epic track over the introduction of Santa being a brutal Viking. (This now becomes his Viking theme).
• Add above score in 5.1 surround channels.
• Add “Carol of the Bells by Samuel Kim” epic track over Santa talking about Nicumond the Red. (This now becomes his Viking theme).
• Add above score in 5.1 surround channels.
• Insert deleted scene of talking to Trudy from the Roof. (This has a beautiful bonding moment where Trudy explains she’s the one who helped Santa with “The Bad Man”).
• Enhance 5.1 surround channels (Help from Hear_Everything)
• Blend extended scene score with original score from movie.
• Colour correct deleted scene to match original movie
• Insert deleted scene after Santa smashes Candy Canes he in. (This adds a level of brutality and another chance for Santa and Trudy to bond).
• Enhance 5.1 surround channels (Help from Hear_Everything)
• Blend extended scene score with original score from movie.
• Colour correct deleted scene to match original movie
• Insert deleted scene where Gertrude explains to Jason about how harsh the family tried her. (This fleshes out how manipulative Gertrude has needed to be just to survive in such a narcissistic family).
• Enhance 5.1 surround channels (Help from Hear_Everything)
• Blend extended scene score with original score from movie.
• Colour correct deleted scene to match original movie
• Remove dialogue from original audio and slowly fade in the choir music and folis sounds.
• Insert deleted scene of extended ending. (This gives a more emotional closure to the family and Santa leaving Trudy).
• Enhance 5.1 surround channels (Help from Hear_Everything)
• Blend extended scene score with original score from movie.
• Colour correct deleted scene to match original movie
• Insert 80s style outro credits and outtakes.
• Add “Ting A Ling Dong Ding by Dominic Lewis” from original sound track over above scene.
• Insert deleted scene with Santa visiting drunk Father. (This must’ve been a deleted post credit scene that sets up Violent Night 2).
• Enhance 5.1 surround channels (Help from Hear_Everything)
• Blend extended scene score with original score from movie.
• Colour correct deleted scene to match original movie
• Add extreme reverb to above score for seamless transition.
• Add “Movies Remastered Fanedit” to end credits.
• Add MR Sparkle outro video.
While there were many more deleted and extended scenes to add, I honestly didn’t feel they added much. If anything, they slowed down pacing and storytelling.
Enjoy!
