Synopsis:

I've made many alterations in order to tighten the lines & get us sailing at a quicker clip. New opening text includes a quote from Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. Many scenes have been swabbed & polished, helping to stay the course & keep things on track. Some deleted bits have been reinstated & I've created a new ending that lines up with the source material. A new post-credits shot ends things with a final shock.

Intentions:

This is part of a project that aims to bring stronger continuity, tighter editing & improved pacing to select titles from Universal's Dracula library.

PRODUCTION CREDITS- -added the fanedit.org logo. -added my fanedit production logo. -replaced the Universal fanfare with Where's Jeremy from the HALLOWEEN ENDS OST. -added metallic sliding sounds as the Universal logo glides past. -added rumble as the Universal logo lands & fades. -removed the Dreamworks Pictures & Reliance Entertainment production logos. -added text from the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. -the music from HALLOWEEN ENDS fades & blends into the opening music. -added a "An André Øvredal Film" credit. TITLE CARD- -cut the confusing shot of the cane handle after the title fades-out. DOCKSIDE- -cut the shot of the Demeter before Clemens is called back to the game. CLEMENS & OLGAREN ON WATCH- -shortened a shot of Olgaren as he investigates the face he just saw. -cut Olgaren seeing maggots on the deck of the ship. -shortened a shot of Clemens at the ship's wheel. -Clemens' first "Mr. Olgaren?" is heard over a shot of the deck. -shortened two shots as Clemens leaves the wheel in search of Olgaren. -shortened a shot of Huck before he starts barking. CLEMENS & TOBY DISCUSS ANNA- -cut "She didn't say so much" before "I don't think she's having nice dreams." -Toby's "I don't think she's having very nice dreams" is over a shot of Clemens. -shortened a shot of Clemens. -shortened a shot of Anna. -cut Toby saying "she keeps saying 'Feed'." CLEMENS & ANNA- -cut Anna's hesitancy before talking to Clemens. -cut Anna calling Dracula "He who wears the skin of a man." -cut a shot of Clemens examining blood on the floor. -added a shot of Clemens, reversed from earlier. -extended a shot of Clemens. LARSON'S DEMISE- -cut Dracula sneaking out of the cargo hold lookin' like Gollum. -adjusted gamma to reveal detail as Larson's head is smashed. -added squishing sounds as Larson's head is smashed. OLGAREN AWAKENS- -cut the shot panning to Toby. -cut a shot of Olgaren walking toward Toby before he attacks. -shortened a shot of Toby in hiding after Olgaren relents. -cut Toby coming out from his hiding place. -cut a shot of Toby crawling across the floor. -added a thud sound as Olgaren slams Clemens against the wall. -cut two shots of Clemens struggling with Olgaren. -added sounds as Wojcheck's rifle hits the floor. -added sounds as Olgaren hits the floor. ATTACKING TOBY- -shortened a shot of Toby as Capt. Eliot tries to open he door. -shortened Toby's POV shot panning to Dracula hiding in the corner. -cut a shot of Toby looking up. -cut a shot of Dracula crawling above Toby. -cut Anna blasting the door open with the rifle. -cut a shot of Anna looking around the room. -shortened a shot of Clemens & Anna as they spot Toby on the floor. OLGAREN'S DEMISE- -added rumble after Wojcheck fires his rifle JOSEPH & THE LIFEBOAT- -the sound of Dracula landing is heard over a shot of Joseph. -shortened the shot of Dracula landing on the lifeboat. TOBY'S FUNERAL- -cross-fade from Toby sinking to Capt. Eliot crying. FINAL NIGHT- -cut a shot of fog coming up the side of the ship. -cut a shot of the fog creeping towards Clemens. -adjusted gamma to reveal detail on a shot of Dracula in the fog. -added ambience to the crash site. (Ship in Storm by Sword Coast Soundscapes) -cut to black after the shot of the Demeter, crashed on the beach. CLEMENS' ESCAPE & ANNA'S FATE- -cut this entire scene, leaving what happened up to you. DRACULA IN LONDON- -created a new montage that removes all to do with Clemens. END CREDITS- -added the title card before the credits. POST-CREDITS- -added water sounds. -added a shot of Dracula lunging forward. -added rumble. -added my production logo.

Additional Notes:

I wanted to give the film a bit of polish to bring out it's best & reduce it's deficiencies. Changes have also been made so that the film lines up with the source material.
