Synopsis:
Star Wars: Rebels "Rated R" contains a collection of 18 Edited Star Wars: Rebels Episodes ranging from at the very shortest, approximately the Length of a Star Wars Rebels Episode (~25 minutes), and at the longest a 90 minute film-length cut of several Star Wars: Rebels episodes combined together.
Intentions:
The original goal of this project was just a shorter cut of Star Wars: Rebels, which originally only focused on the characters of Ahsoka, Captain Rex, and Darth Maul. However, this quickly expanded after I rewatched Star Wars: Rebels more closely than previously, and I realized the immense potential of a cut of Star Wars: Rebels which simply focused on removing some of the goofier, nonsensical aspects, and focusing on the story and removing depictions of the antagonists, the Empire, as silly or incompetent--while still keeping the charm and characterization of the original series. Additionally, all cut content from removed episodes and scenes are no longer referenced in an expository manner. Watching this cut of Rebels--you might not even notice what you 'missed' from the normal Disney+ Series.
Change List:
-Combined Clone Wars Episode Arcs into 18 seperate/arcs/standalone episodes, rather than the 50+ single episodes.
-Cut unnecessary depictions of antagonists that undermine the steaks of the story throughout the entire series. (Extremely depreciating Stormtrooper humor, ect.) But a significant portion of tasteful humor was left, and thus the series is left tonnally uneutered.
-Through truncation of certain scenes and dialogue, depicted every antagonist as more competent, prioritizing believability in the Star Wars legendarium-
-Removed expository dialogue-
-Every important character is introduced naturally despite cutting several episodes, and in some cases episodes are largely edited down.
-Removed references to all cut content (This edit feels like a cohesive Disney release, is not intended to feel like a fanedit-)
-Recontectualized transitions between episodes, sometimes changing or reframing dialogue-
(This is a complete edit which I am extremely proud of and I think is a highly transformative edit; I will refer to the current (first) 'released' version as 'Final Draft 1.2.' --'Version 1.3' will make a few minor changes and additions primarily to 'Season 2' and to a lesser extent 'Season 3' of this edit. The changes will be seamlessly updated via cloud within a approximately month of this thread's creation (January 13))
Additional Notes:
In this edit; 'Star Wars: Rebels' is turned from being intended to be marketed to an audience of kids, and by removing some extra comical aspects, soft depections of the antagonists, and truncating almost all expository dialogue--while still maintaining the 'soul' of the writing and characterization (something Star Wars: Rebels does well), Star Wars: Rebels is tonally made more in line with the rest of George Lucas' Star Wars, intended for an audience of all ages. Due to this increase and more generalization of the 'maturity' of the show, this fanedit is titled Star Wars: Rebels "Rated R". (EDIT: As I have to make this clarification: Star Wars: Rebels Rated R is not a nsfw edit; the meaning of the title characterizes the refocused target audience after the changes; the edit is obviously appropriate for all ages--same as the Original Trillogy, and this edit does not actually include extreme or mature content*)
