Synopsis:
I first learned of this serial through the 90 minute VHS recut in the 1990s, I lapped it all up, every twist and turn, but in re-examining this edit, I realized something....the whole thing could be shortened to just thirty minutes if...
1. The protagonists Sat down and talked the whole thing through
2. The antagonists had carried out an attack at first opportunity
Before I know it, I had a complete story on my hands, and I didn't need to cut down ANY of episode 1!
As the title suggests, this is an action edit, named after the 1970s magazine for young boys that saw many a cover devoted to the Third Doctor's adventures, and this is, as it was billed then, a 'big' story. It's one of the more intense of the Third Doctor's adventures, one of the more Bond-like. Thanks to a little footage from episode 2 of the serial, I was able to give Pertwee more to do at the story's climax, participating more in the battle for Styles manor. And who can forget the brave Gorilla fighters, a little something for them too since they got left out of the skirmish almost entirely save one.
Intentions:
To cap off the 61st anniversary of Doctor Who with an action-focused rethink and recut of one of my all time favourites from childhood, and to prove the story can be told in no time at all!
Change List:
-Removed all of The Doctor and Jo's sequences in the tunnels and in the future
-Removed the majority of scenes with The Controller, including his betrayal
-Rearranged scenes from episode two to now take place during the climax of the story
