Synopsis:

For those who are unfamiliar with the Slasher Cuts: According to Stephen King there are three categories of horror - Gross-out, Horror and Terror. Terrifier is one of those movies that obviously fall in the first category. I'm not that much of a fan of media that rely only on Gross-Out to create a disturbing atmosphere (mostly because I don't have the stomach for it when things get worse and sick). However, what really got me into the movies is the villain (Art The Clown) as I happen to find him quite interesting. The idea of ridiculously excessive on-screen torture and gore can be extremely discouraging for most viewers, which is bad because they want to enjoy the movie without throwing up or feel nausea.

Intentions:

Therefore, with my experience from my previous fan-edit, I made a quick but careful conversion of the first movie (an unrated splatter Gross-Out film) into more of an R-Rated slasher horror film. Most of the sick torture scenes removed. The gore is still there but at the same time isn't (After all it's only four minutes shorter). For making this version I, once again, had John Carpenter's Halloween (the 2018 movie), which successfully delivered balanced Gross-Out and Horror. The trick played to keep the scare factor during the kills and at the same time normalize them, (the lights flicker giving short pics on what's going on during the monstrosities Art is committing - just enough to give the viewer a good yet breathtaking horror experience) is back in the Slasher Cut of Terrifier 2. A subtle and short piano reprise of the fan-favorite track "The Clown Cafe" is put when Art is cornered towards the finale giving after a long thrilling run, a first note of hope that he can actually get defeated. Overall, the project took 16 hours and it's a careful conversion of the film from Gross-Out Splatter to Slasher, that manages to deliver a more balanced horror time to audiences that cannot find entertainment in detailed sick on-screen massacres, but are interested in watching the film beyond that.

Additional Notes:

Just like the Slasher Cut for the first movie in the Terrifier Franchise, the project continues including the sequel. (Check out the Slasher Cut for Terrifier (2016) here: https://www.moviesremastered.com/movieinfo.php?id=10932
