Synopsis:
Dave, a local DJ living along the beautiful coast of a small California town enjoys following live bands & reading poetry live on-AIR. But some of his fans want a little too much from the good looking, suave, and increasingly paranoid DJ.
Intentions:
Feature length film, cut down, re-scored, and reorganized into a 60 minute psychedelic, psychological, Horror-Thriller.?
The intention was to turn this cringy, slow, weird, definitely awkward, old feeling movie that does have amazing locales & moments, into a real psychedelic Horror-Thriller, with a twist of Tarantino at the end. I think I have completely transformed this film into something else. This is the most extensive edit I have made to date.
Change List:
There is a completely new "BOX FRAMED" opening credits I made from unused footage from the original film. I added the credits and music (Miles Davis) and timed every cut in each box to the music. This alone took a very long time.
-Removed all weird sex and kissing from all scenes involving it
-Removed several scenes involving main characters that did not push the plot
-Removed more attacks and crazy behaviour by characters to reach my 60 minute goal
Because of the re-score, I also added tons of new foley and sound effects throughout the entire edit. Almost everything, and I mean everything you hear was added. I even found audio files of the same exact car Clint drives in the film and added that where appropriate.
I used vocalremover.org and elevenlabs.io to allow me to edit in the new music, and also write completely new dialogue throughout the edit. I was able to catch the viewer up on the plot, as well as use it as part of scene transitions.
Additional Notes:
The entire original film was cut down, re-scored, and reorganized into a 60 minute psychedelic, psychological, Horror-Thriller.?
The re-score is primarily music from the legendary jazz musician Miles Davis, along with many tracks from the equally legendary Bernard Herrmann. BH did the score for many classic films. And so, music selections were from Vertigo, Psycho, Cape Fear, and more. There is also more music from other artists and film scores.
