Synopsis:
So I actually feel like this is my favorite adaptation of the novel, courtesy of Angela Bettis being just perfect for the roles.
The film itself well it’s not perfect, I think the script is solid, but the direction and special effects leave a lot to be desired.
There is this running theme of a police detective asking survivors of the prom questions about Carrie. This adds nothing to the film and makes it feel so long because it is long! Two hours and twelve minutes?? Come on man. That’s like if someone made a two hour and 17 minute slasher film starring a clown, oh wait.
I have a habit of abandoning edits before I can even finish a rough draft. Well I set out to challenge myself so I did this in one day, can’t quit something when it’s already done.
Intentions:
I wanted to make this edit because this is my go to version of the Carrie story but the length of the film and the police stuff just brought it down for me.
Change List:
-Film is cropped to 1920x900
-Entire film is coloured corrected to a style that doesn’t hurt my eyes.
-Remove all of the overarching police detective scenes, just gone.
-Miss Desjarden does not slap Carrie in the showers.
-Carrie does not move the desk.
-Removed stupid annoying kid on the bike.
-Removed the awful CGI meteor storm flashback.
-Removed scene of mom letting Carrie leave the closet, we don’t know how long she spend there.
-Removed the scene of Carrie in class getting something of a seizure, it feels very sudden for me and non of the other characters react to it at all which comes across as weird.
-Removed the scene of Sue and Chris at the bowling alley, doesn’t do anything for me.
-Removed the scene of the mother alone after Carrie is already at prom.
-Added Ed Harcourt’s Here Be Monsters to Carrie and her mom’s last scene.
-Cut the last second scare of Carrie’s dead mom at the grave bit, we really do not need a last scare come on man.
-Changed the song at the end to: Sorcha Richardson’s Lost
