Synopsis:
This edit is a radical change from the original movie. It was an experiment. I didn't know if it would work, but it did. The major plot changes are: K has no hologram girlfriend, and K doesn't think he's the missing child. As a result of these two major changes, K is a stronger, more selfless, and more likable character.
How can K not think he's the missing child? [answer contains spoilers for fan edit]
K tells his boss that his memories are implanted and not real. But after finding the carved horse, he knows that that one memory is a real one. So he asks Dr. Stelline if real memories can be implanted. She sort of confirms a yes, but says it's illegal to do. K then returns to his boss and says, "It's done" -- lying to her maybe for the first time -- because he now wants to protect the missing half-human, half-replicant child. When K enters Deckard's home area in Vegas, he stares at the carved animals on the desk. This is not easy to spot but it does happen. K surmises that Deckard is the father and asks what the mother's name was. K thinks the missing child is a boy, but Freysa tells him it was a girl. K is willing to die to keep the special child safe.

Years ago when I did this edit, I never knew I'd need a list of the changes. So I didn't write down my minor edits.
