Synopsis:
YouTube Content Creator Kyle McLeod (Andrew Leighty), infamous for his hiking vlog Trailjunkies, gets more than what he asked for when he hikes into the Wessex County National Forest, and trespasses into the Wildlife Preserve.
Stumbling into a local community where the local sheriff (Vinny Guastaferro) covers up bloody “last known whereabouts” to pass as simple “missing person” reports, Kyle must team up with a grieving mother (Anna Campbell) and a shotgun-toting paramedic (Thom Mathews) to put an end to the killer known as Jason Voorhees.
Intentions:
This fan edit compiles almost all of Womp Stomp Film’s Never Hike Alone related videos, short films and feature films into a 148 minute feature length film. With the exception of a few lines and shots trimmed/removed for continuity,
Whereas the 103 minute Theatrical Cut edit of this project was meant to be a digestible running time for newcomers and general audiences unfamiliar with the lore, this edit keeps most of the removed material intact for the hockheads who know the lore of Jason Voorhees like the back of their hand.
Change List:
The story incorporates six to seven different films and short videos together to tell one cohesive story.
There are some overlaps with Never Hike Alone and Never Hike Alone 2. I’ve fixed the battery bar of Kyle McLeod’s go-pro camera so it matches when the films cut back and forth between each other.
Slight trims in scenes to fix some continuity mistakes, meaning some dialogue was removed, but thankfully none of it was relevant in my eyes.
Some musical cues were added in one portion to help transition over from one character in the forest to another character who is driving to the forest.
Additional Notes:
This film is edited to be presented as an in media res story; we begin somewhere in the middle of the second act of the story before we rewind all the way back to the beginning to catch you up to speed.
We start off with Kyle McLeod’s Trailjunkies video, How To Hike In The Snow, to introduce the audience to his character properly, and set the audience up for the mid-credits scene at the end.
The first 10 minutes reuse the ending to Never Hike Alone as our in media res segment. The footage in this portion is different from how it is presented later when the narrative catches us back up to the present day events. This is due to 6 to 7 year difference between the shooting of these scenes. Regardless, I’ve decided to use it in the project to open up the film. This opening, along with the Trailjunkies video, allow us to be introduced to our protagonist Kyle McLeod much earlier than 25 to 30 minutes like he was in the Theatrical Cut edit.
This fan edit incorporates the Disappear music video by Womp Stomp Films as a backdrop for the opening credits.
After that, we tell the story of Mark Hill and his mother, Diana Hill, as well as Deputy Alan Mabry with the Never Hike In The Snow segment. This segment of the film is for the most part kept in tact, with a few alterations and trims here and there.
The Press Conference Bonus Scene for Never Hike In The Snow is used to give the segment of the film proper closure.
