Synopsis:
Extended Edition of the first Pirates film, in full HD for the first time.
Intentions:
Replace my long lost Pirates 1 extended edition with an upgraded HD version.
Change List:
- Added all 16 Deleted Scenes in their proper place. Nothing removed.
- All scenes have been corrected and upscaled to 1080p from the low quality source files.
- Audio has been mapped to 5.1 and mixed for clearer sound.
- Please note that the deleted scenes are never going to look and sound as good as the rest of the movie just because of the poor quality of the original files. I have improved their look and sound as best I can.
- Some additional sound effects and music have been added to the mix where they probably would've been if the scenes were completely finished.
Additional Notes:
My original extended edition of Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl has been lost to time. I lost my copy in a hard drive crash, and have never been able to track it down again. It was also one of my first edits, only in DVD quality, and pretty poorly thrown together, so lost to time is likely where it belongs.
However, curiously, it's one of the edits I get asked for the most. I'm not sure what it is about this extended edition that so many people come here and make an account to specifically message me about, but I get at least 3-5 queries a month.
And it doesn't look like another extended edition of the first film was ever created by anyone else. So, just out of public demand, I have recreated it in HD with 5.1 sound.
This is a straight extended edition, incorporating all of the deleted scenes but leaving the rest of the movie otherwise untouched. The deleted scenes are in SD only, but I will be ran them through Topaz to get them as close to HD quality as possible. They likely won't ever look as good as the rest of the film, but should be good enough.
The only change I'm going to make this time around is to reorder some of the Tortuga/ Elizabeth and Barbossa stuff, as the way these scenes play means it was likely the editing was different when they were meant to be included.
