Synopsis:

This edit Removes the scenes taking place in 2035 to create doubt about Coles’ mental state.

Intentions:

The scenes taking place in the future are visually very different from the rest of the movie and my first thought was to remove them to make a more coherent overall look and a story less si-fyish. The result yields an interesting narrative regarding Cole’s mental state. It becomes unclear, in the first half of the movie, if he really comes from the future or if he is lying or being delusional about it. I hope all these changes make the viewer identify more with Dr. Kathryn Railly’s point of view rather than Cole’s. She is the character living in ‘our reality’ after all.

Change List:

-Removed opening credits /Modified the first dream sequence with new opening credits and new song -Removed the 2035 sequence -Light trims during mental institution tour (hordes of barbarians, bunny slippers) -Removed a minor character for bad acting when Railly learns Cole escaped -Removed scanner room during failed escape -Removed the dream sequence where the bad guy is played by Pitt instead of Morse -Removed the 2035 sequence /Placed the WW1 sequence later -Light trims to the conversation on the way to Philly -Light trims while Cole escapes from Goines dinner -Light trim to the scene when Railly realizes Cole was right about the boy in the well -Removed the 2035 sequence /Inserted WW1 sequence here with cuts and trims, followed by Railly finding a picture of Cole taken during WW1 -Removed the 2035 sequence -Light trim to phone scene between Railly and Dr. Goines -Trimmed the shady hotel clerk and added him back during Railly-Cole conversation -Light trims to the escape from the shady hotel scene -Removed Cole and Railly trying to hide while being filmed and displayed on tv wall -Light trim to the shopping scene and also removed Cole’s flashback of this place -Removed Jeffrey telling his father he is not insane during kidnapping scene -Removed a sleeping guy from the movie theater -Light trim to taxi driver speech -Removed the scared guy from the airport toilet scene -Trimmed conversation between Cole and Jose and removed other guy from the future -Trimmed out the actor playing young Cole while looking at the camera -Trimmed the scene with TSO cluelessly looking at the virus -Cut Railly being rude to other airport employee +Inserted the new song -Removed the scene inside the airplane
