Synopsis:

This is Star Wars as an episodic series, consisting of five main seasons and multiple bonus seasons (bonus seasons are labeled as part 1, 2, 3 of the main seasons). Each season is an era of Star Wars and titled accordingly.

Intentions:

A few years ago, not knowing that "fan-editing" was a thing, I had the thought "has anyone ever cut Star Wars up into a series?" That is where this journey began. TO THE GOOGLES! Well, no Star Wars series, but there was this thing that I found, this thing called the fan-edit. And down the rabbit hole I went. A new hobby was found. I now have downloaded probably hundreds of edits and made many myself. I've done a few movie edits, but what I really like to do is take movie franchises and cut them up into series. I'm a family man with a busy life at home, so I don't always have the time to sit down and re-watch something I've seen a bunch of times already. But I do have time for an episode or two a night. Some would say "why not just hit pause?" Well, to put it simply, that's just not as fun.

Change List:

Along with the many other changes - Each movie below was broken up into 2 or 3 episodes. Each with a custom intro, modified end credits and new credit music from the movie soundtracks. SEASON 1 – Fall of the Jedi The Phantom Menace – Two episodes, Octorox’s version used as the base. The end celebration was removed. Ends with a shot of Palpatine. Attack of the Clones – Three episodes, Hal’s version as the base. Low quality deleted scenes trimmed around the real bad low-quality parts to better blend with the rest. Yoda’s vision seeing Anakin’s pain reinstated. Anakin’s talk with Padme about killing the Sand People reinstated. Yoda fight with Dooku reinstated and trimmed to remove Yoda flipping around as much. Wedding removed. Revenge of the Sith – Three episodes, Extended version with small changes. The balcony scene was removed. SEASON 1 Part 2 – The Clone Wars (Optional) EddieDean’s Clone Wars Refocused is recommended. Link- https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/The-Clone-Wars-Refocused-COMPLETE-Subtitles-for-season-one/id/80467. But for the purposes of this edit…. I put together one 13-episode season. Used EddieDean’s Refocused series as the base (for some, not all). I tried to include everything needed to understand other things going on in the Star Wars Universe. There are a couple of Ahsoka focused episodes, a couple of Maul focused eps, the Witches of Dathomir (featured in Ahsoka’s series), some Clone focused eps and a couple of Mandalore focused eps. Sure, there are some gaps, but it is easy to understand what is going on. In the final episode I included some Tales of the Jedi and Battle of the Heroes by Hello There Productions. SEASON 1 Part 3 – The Bad Batch (will be optional) In process, won’t be completed until the current season is complete. SEASON 1 – Alternate Version I put together an alternate version of season 1 that combines the live action prequel trilogy and the animated Clone Wars series, and some Tales of the Jedi too. This is not my preferred way to watch, but I know some people like this. It is 22 episodes. Episode 0 is two of the Dooku episodes of TotJ (Justice and Choices) combined into one episode, as a sort of prologue. Gives a little background on Dooku, Qui-Gon and Mace Windu. Episode 1 is the same as the regular version. Episode 2 is the same as the regular version, except it includes the third ep of TotJ with Dooku (The Sith Lord). Episodes 3-16 are the same eps as S1 eps 3-5 and S1P2 eps 1-11. Episodes 17-21 are Revenge of the Sith, the Siege of Mandalore arc of the Clone Wars and some Ahsoka episodes of TotJ, all blended together. This uses some of Hal’s Labyrinth of Evil edit, some of Octorox’s RotS extended, some of Numeral Joker’s RotS/SoM supercut and an idea from Eddie Dean’s Clone Wars Refocused. All with permission. SEASON 2 – Reign of the Empire Solo (and the beginning of Rogue One) – Three episodes. Added the young Jyn scene from Rogue One to the start. Extended Solo chase scene at the beginning. Removed Han saying he’s not calling Chewbacca by his name, now he just chuckles. Removed Maul. Some other extended elements from Numeral Joker’s cut of Solo. Obi-Wan Kenobi – Ep1 – The Time of the Jedi is Over – Trimmed the scene where Leia is captured to be less silly. Ep2 – You Can’t Escape Him – Removed Leia saying “granddaughter maybe” implying Obi-Wan is super old, too old to be her father. He’s not any older than Bail Organa, her actual father. Trimmed some Leia running away shots. Removed Reva and her terrible parkour from the rooftop chase. Ep3 – What Have You Become? – No changes. Ep4 – Fortress Inquisitorius – Trimmed the escape with Leia hiding in the coat. They no longer walk past many, many people, including the inquisitors. Ep5 – At Any Cost – De-aged Anakin in the flashbacks. Reva is “killed” by Vader. It’s left ambiguous, so if she returns in a season 2 or something, it will still work. Ep6 – What Remains – No Reva on Tatooine since she is “dead.” The Vader and Palpatine scene is moved to mid credits. I don’t really care for credit scenes, but this didn’t fit anywhere else, and I think it is an important scene. SEASON 2 Part 2 – Andor (Optional) Watch the full released version is my recommendation. It is so good! But, for a shorter version, I took the great two-movie edit by Smudger9 and edited it into 6-one hour-ish episodes. I made a couple changes myself and added back a couple scenes that Smudge removed. SEASON 2 Part 3 – Rebels (Optional) Again, to watch in full is my recommendation. Rebels is great when given a chance. But for the purposes of this edit… I edited a couple of the important arcs into 8 - 45min to 1 hour-ish episodes. SEASON 3 – Age of Rebellion Rogue One – Three episodes, Hal’s version as the base. Minus the opening scene (young Jyn), it was used at the beginning of season 2 (Solo). Reinstated the opening scene with Andor and the scene with the pilot that Hal removed. Moved Vader scene to beginning of A New Hope. A New Hope – Two episodes, Hal’s version as the base. Added Vader ending from Rogue One. Trimmed opening of A New Hope to not conflict with Rogue One. Added my own heavily edited version of SC38 reimagined. Empire Strikes Back – Three episodes, Hal’s version as the base. Added the special edition wampa scene. Return of the Jedi – Three episodes, Hal’s version as the base. Heavily edited the Ewoks in the Battle of Endor. Now they don’t really do any damage to the Storm Troopers, they do a lot of distracting and running away. Added the Hayden Force Ghost. Personally, I prefer the Shaw ghost, but I made this change to not conflict with the force ghost in TRoS. SEASON 4 – The New Republic Originally the movie edits by Smudger9 were used as the base, but this has been completely overhauled and redone. There are bits and pieces of Smudger’s work remaining here and there (mostly in part 3), so they deserve a shout out. Check out their work, it is great! Each episode has the chapter and number removed and the “previously on” removed. Part 1 - Season 1 of Mando, plus some of The Book of Boba Fett. The Mandalorian – No changes, this is a perfect episode in my mind. The Child – Minimal changes. The Sin – Remove mention of conserving the whistling birds, he seems to have plenty of them. Stranger in a Strange Land – The flashbacks of the first two eps of Book of Boba Fett. The Gunslinger – Minor changes throughout. Added the scene from “The Prisoner” where Mando gives the child the ball from the lever. The Sands of Tatooine – The flashbacks of the 3rd and 4th eps of Boba Fett. Boba taking Fennec to the mod parlor removed, we cut from Boba saving her, to her waking up by the fire. The Prisoner – References to Mando only being invited for use of his ship removed. The big red guy is toned way down. No shot of the bad guys in the cell at the end because Mando killed them all. Removed the scene at the end where Mando gives the child the ball from the lever. The Reckoning – Minimal changes. The Redemption – Minimal changes. Along with the changes above, the episode “The Sanctuary” was removed completely. The only thing worthwhile that happened in this episode is Mando meets Cara Dune, in my edit they already know each other. Part 2 - Season 2 of Mando. The Marshal – Minor changes throughout. Cob Vanth telling the story of how he got the armor removed. The beginning of the original second episode “The Passenger” moved to the end of this episode. The Covert – A big chunk of “The Passenger” added to this episode. After the Razor Crest falls through the ice, we cut everything from there to the wake-up with the spiders crawling on the Crest. No hot tubs, no talking through the droid, none of that crap. There is quite a lot of editing in this episode, too much to list every detail. Once we leave this planet, the ep is the original “The Heiress” with only minor changes. The Siege – The Child in school removed. Captain Teva investigating, and Cara Dune being recruited to the New Republic removed. The Jedi – No changes, great ep in my opinion. The Tragedy – Fennec running across the tops of rocks while getting shot at trimmed/removed. Why would she not just jump down behind them? Scene of Mando and Cara talking about Mayfeld moved to the next episode. The Believer – Scene of Mando and Cara talking about Mayfeld from previous ep, moved to this ep. The Rescue – Deepfake Luke added. Part 3 - Season 3 of Mando, plus some of The Book of Boba Fett. The New Daimyo of Mos Espa – The “present day” scenes of Boba Fett eps 1-4 heavily edited, too much to list. No mod gang in this edit. The Apostate – “The Return of the Mandalorian” ep of Boba Fett, edited into a Mandalorian episode. Removes Boba references, namely Fennec recruiting Mando at the end. In the Name of Honor – Eps 6-7 of Boba, heavily edited, too much to list it all. No Grogu. Minimal Mando. End battle heavily trimmed. The original battle was pretty terrible, and I tried to remedy that the best I could. No mod gang! Very little Free Town folks. No reunion between Mando and Grogu. The Convert – Only the Coruscant portion of the original “The Convert”. The Mando portions of the original version were moved to episode 6 or 7. This ep was moved up in the timeline, so that along with no Grogu in Boba Fett, this adds more time that Mando and Grogu are apart. The Padawan – The Grogu episodes of Book of Boba Fett and the Grogu portions of “The Foundling” from Mando season 3 combined to create one Grogu focused episode. Luke showing Grogu his memories and the memory scene from The Foundling combined into one sequence. The Mines of Mandalore – See number 7 below. The Pirate – Eps 6 & 7 are a combo of season 3 eps 1-6. The Foundling, The Convert and Guns for Hire are mostly removed. But this is where it is a little fuzzy. I started with Smudger9’s movie edit of season 3, I took some more out, added some stuff back that they took out. Moved a bunch around. This was over a year ago. I went back to my timeline to try to make a change list, but it is a jumbled mess, but trust me, it is way better now. Haha! The Spies – The portions of “Guns for Hire” where Bo-Katan and Mando visit the other Mandalorians on Plazir-15 is moved to the beginning of this ep and the rest of the original “The Spies” plays out with no other changes. The Return – Minimal changes. Mando TL;DR - the basic gist is - Some filler episodes removed. The important stuff from the filler eps (or skippable eps) was moved to other eps. You will see there are episodes labeled as skippable, these are optional, up to you. They are basically filler episodes that I like even though they are filler. This is edited in a way that these somewhat filler episodes can be skipped without missing anything important. Anything important is moved to a different episode. This includes basically all of Book of Boba Fett too. It can be skipped. Boba Fett isn’t good but has some good moments. The Mando and Grogu stuff is all turned into Mando episodes. Also, if Boba Fett is skipped, it adds to the mystery of Boba Fett, which is cool. This turns the 31 episodes of Mando and Boba into 25 episodes, or 18 episodes if you skip the skippable ones. This reduces it from 1,578 minutes to 1,037 minutes, or 746 minutes if you skip the skippable ones. Part 4 – For now, just Ahsoka and it is optional. I have not edited this and won’t until more seasons are released, so I recommend the full version. And it is optional because it ends on a cliffhanger and it would be odd for a season to be unresolved, but there is another season after it (season 5- Rise of the First Order). And for now, season 3 of Mando does have a satisfying ending. Part 5 and beyond - Further seasons of the Mandalorian and Ahsoka, plus the movie and anything else that happens in this time period. SEASON 5 – Rise of the First Order The Force Awakens – Three episodes, Spence’s version as the base. The ending was moved to The Last Jedi portion of the series. The Last Jedi – Three episodes, Hal’s version as the base. Force Awakens end scene added. Many Easter eggs added – some provided by poppasketti, some provided by Dragon Fire, and some from myself. Rise of Skywalker – Three episodes, Hal’s version as the base. Lightspeed skipping reinstated. Rey saying “I’m all the Jedi” reinstated. This covers most of the big changes, but there are many small changes not mentioned. This is a very large project, and all of the changes would make a very large list.

Additional Notes:

For the structure of this I took the idea from The Clone Wars animated series. The series is presented in "arcs" consisting of 3 or 4 episodes that tell one story. So, some, not all, but some, are simply taking a movie and chopping it into 2 or 3 pieces and calling it a series. As I said before, some will say "why not just hit pause?" 1. Same as I said before, that's no fun. And 2. This is more than that, I have made intros and outros, I have used what I think is the best version of each movie, I've done some editing myself, I have done some rearranging.
