Synopsis:

When Jamaica-based British Intelligence agent John Strangways disappears while investigating interference with the launching of U.S. Cape Canaveral rockets, the head of the British Secret Service, known only as M, sends MI6 agent 007 James Bond to investigate. Bond discovers an island owned by mysterious Dr. No and hires local fisherman Quarrel to take him there where they encounter seashell-collecting beauty Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress), a fire-breathing dragon, and a plan by SPECTRE to disrupt the Project Mercury space launch from Cape Canaveral with his atomic-powered radio beam.

Intentions:

I've always loved the Bond movies but I feel like some of the earlier ones were a bit long-winded. In an effort to modernize Dr. No and to make the movie move a bit faster, I've removed 20 minutes of fluff and dialogue that wouldn't fly today. No music has been replaced, no effects have been added, just straight cuts to remove some of the more tedious stuff.

Change List:

1. Removed the 1960's dancers from the opening credits 2. Removed the jump cut when one of the gunmen shoots through the window at the secretary 3. After the card game, removed Bond's conversation with Sylvia Trench 4. In M's office, removed the line “I want to know what happened to Strangways.” 5. Removed M's line about double-0 casualties 6. Removed the 2nd scene between Bond and Moneypenny 7. Removed the scene in Bond's room with Sylvia Trench 8. Removed when the fake chauffeur tries to hit Bond with a rock 9. Removed Bond showing the photo of Quarrel to the police captain to get rid of the jump cut 10. Removed some shots from the fight in the shed with Quarrel to speed things up 11. Shortened the shot of the band playing in the bar 12. Shortened the scene of Bond questioning the photographer, removed her cutting Quarrel's face 13. Removed a few shots of the professor arriving at Crab Key to get him there faster 14. Shortened the car chase to remove obvious repeating shots and bad fx 15. Removed Bond's love scene with Miss Taro and also them getting ready for their date 16. Removed Bond's line “Be careful of her nail varnish.” when putting Miss Taro in the police car 17. Removed Bond pouring drinks and looking around Miss Taro's house 18. Removed Bond and Honey talking about seashells and also Quarrel's awkward look 19. Removed some of the boat captain's dialogue repeatedly telling Bond to show himself 20. Shortened when the attack boat is leaving 21. Removed Bond's line “Fetch my shoes.” 22. Removed Honey talking to Bond about animals 23. Removed Honey's line “Something is biting my foot” when they are hiding from the guards 24. Removed Bond killing lone guard after everyone else has left and Honey's melodramatic looks 25. Removed Bond asking Honey about herself 26. Shortened scene with Dragon Tank to remove Bond and Quarrel constantly missing their shots 27. Removed some tough guy talk from the tank drivers 28. Significantly shortened the decontamination scene 29. After decontamination, Removed Bond checking the steel door and putting his slippers on 30. Removed the scene where Bond and Honey are drugged 31. Removed the scene where Dr. No sneaks into Bond's room to watch him sleep 32. Removed the scene of Bond and Honey getting dressed for dinner 33. Shortened the conversation between Bond and Dr. No at dinner table 34. Removed the camera hit when Bond slides down the shaft 35. Shortened the establishing shot of the control room 36. Removed the 2nd establishing shot of the control room 37. Significantly shortened the time from when Bond enters the gantry to when he turns the dial 38.
