Synopsis:

Set in a high fantasy world where magic exists, but only some can access it, a woman named Moiraine crosses paths with five young men and women. This sparks a dangerous, world-spanning journey.

Intentions:

The Wheel of Time: The Eye of the World is a fan edit of Amazon's The Wheel of Time Season 1 into a feature film. The project is loosely inspired by other fan edits of TV series into films and by The Dusty Wheel's fan edit of Winter Dragon. This is a passion project executed during my spare time over weekends, and is the first fan edit I've done. I chose a feature film format as I wanted the project to be transformative and provide a different experience to viewers, going beyond trimming select scenes out of existing episodes.

Change List:

• Used a different cold open • Used Rand and Tam on the road as the opening scene • Cut several Perrin/Layla and Rand/Egwene scenes • Removed Lan/Moiraine POVs until the Aes Sedai camp • Desaturated and added stop motion effect to all dream sequences • Cut several traveling shots used as episode filler (Perrin/Egwene, Rand/Mat/Thom) • Reduced the warder and Aes Sedai camp scenes, and the Stepin arc and funerals • Reduced Moiraine’s day in Tar Valon in several places • Edited Moiraine/Siuan bedroom scene to focus on the Eye more than the Dragon • Cut Machin Shin voices for key characters • Edited Agelmar and Amalisa scenes to improve characterization and pacing • Cut Lan family scene and cut/reduced several Lan/Nynaeve scenes • Cut love triangle arc • Cut mentions of the number of Trollocs so that it’s left unspecified but large • Cut several Perrin/Horn scenes • Cut Nynaeve burnout and Egwene resurrection • Cropped to 1920x880 with a dynamic change in cropped portion shot by shot
