Synopsis:

This Octopussy cuts the worst special effect: gone is the hot-air balloon in the final battle. In a franchise famed for using real effects over special effects, that balloon was an awful stage prop! It cuts over the top bits: e.g. no swinging on a vine like Tarzan. It cuts the worst sexism bits: no ogling the bosom of Q's lab assistant, and no "good with figures" joke about the minor Bond girl.

Intentions:

I always wanted this to be Moore's best 007 adventure, but the Tarzan yell and other lame jokes prevented that. Thanks to fanediting that can be, and now is, solved!

Change List:

- Opening sequence: Shifted 009's chase to the beginning. - Trimmed horse/plane sequence: Cut shot of jeep driving at camera in ditch because it looked too much like the A-Team. Cut shot of plane going under bridge because the landscape looked so obviously USA, while the story implies it isn't. - Arrival at hotel in India: cut Bond's "asp" line. Not funny. - Bond sits down at bar: cut line that he's good with figures. Lame joke. - Trimmed tuk-tuk chase: Cut the crowd looking back and forth like a tennis match. Cut second camel shot. Minimized shots with Moore's too-brown hair color (wow, that distracted me!), which includes cutting bed of nails, sword swallower, fire breather, hot coals. - Trimmed Q's lab: Cut zooming camera on the lab assistant's breasts. Cropped out monitors showing her breasts in subsequent shot. - Trimmed the jungle chase: Cut "sit" at tiger. Remove Tarzan yell & swing on vine. Shifted some shots to accommodate the new flow. - Trimmed East Germany: Several small trims for pacing around and on the train, including cutting the shot of ape-suit Bond checking his watch. - Trim in West Germany: Cut scene of Bond getting denied a car ride a second time. It happens once, shame on them. It happens twice, shame on you. 007 wouldn't have let the second ride get away! - Trimmed final fight w acrobats: Cut hot-air balloon because it always bugged me that it's so obviously a prop on a set stage (sorry Q, you're not in this battle). Cut some shots to fit the new pacing. This makes the final fight faster and a bit more serious. Cut wristwatch monitor. - Inside airplane: Cut shot of Gobinda easily pushing away Octopussy. Let's believe she's still tied up instead of being so easy to overpower. - Final shot in galley: cut the leg joke. Lame and it ruins the moment.
